home > applicationsDX Studio can save months of
development time by providing a
fast and stable engine that can be fully
customized and extended using a visual editing environment.
Interactive Games or Simulations
The JavaScript language behind DX Studio is powerful
enough to handle complex 3D games or simulations with the
minimum amount of coding. You can control everything
in a scene from 3D object positions and rotations to texture
coordinate changes in real-time.
Add 3D to Microsoft Office® Applications
If you use Microsoft Office®, you can spice up presentations by adding
interactive 3D. You can simply insert your DX Studio™ interactive world
into a page of the presentation, move and size it on the page, and preview the
result. This gives you all of the power of the 3D multimedia engine in a
familiar environment. A step by step guide to how to do this can be found
in the DX Studio™ help file here.
ActiveX® in Visual Studio®
If you are a developer, you can add 3D interactive environments into your own
Visual Studio applications. As the player is a fully functioning COM
object, it can be used in Visual C++, C# or VB.Net projects. A step by
step guide to adding an ActiveX control into your 'Toolbox' can be found in the
DX Studio™ help file
here.
This can save a huge amount of time in developing DirectX enabled applications,
along with the cost savings of using the bundled WYSIWYG 2D/3D editor.
Commands can be passed between your application and the DX Studio™ document
using simple 'Send' and 'Receive' methods.
Kiosk Applications
The engine is well suited to touchscreen kiosk applications...
-
The interface has been designed to allow for touchscreen characteristics - 3D
objects can be simply set to 'clickable' giving large intuitive areas for
people to touch.
-
DX Studio™ will run inside a web browser as an ActiveX component. This
allows you to use existing 'locked down' kiosk web browsers to manage the
content, and link to and from standard web pages seamlessly. You can also
mix web and 3D content on the same page. Alternatively, you can lock down
a computer to only play a DX Studio document without any 3rd party
software. See Kiosk Mode
in the help for further information.
-
The full support for the latest audio/video streaming standards allows you to
link music and movies to your interactive environment.
