I want DXS to be able to access Magic Particles API (http://astralax.com/) from within DXS.

Is anybody with me on this?

i had sugested that before... but turns out, that thing isn´t built for 3d... so i guess it would be rather pointless... quite a shame actually... if it were 3d i´d be pulling my hair out for it

however, if you need it for 2d things, you can always go about the SDK and integrate it through a plugin... requires some c++ knowledge, tho... but it would be a nice thing to see

I agree with you Moach. Without 3D volumetric effects, a particle system is useless. Actually I remember we had a discussion about this in another thread. But somehow I seem to have forgotten that Magic Particles only gives you 2D effects.

i know... thats a shame...

i was thinking of cooking up my own 3d particles rig using the SDK... but i gotta learn me some good c++ first... we could really use rotatable, depth-sorted particles

What about having a particle emitter push out effect planes with virtual layer set and a 2D scene who's size is just big enough to encompass the sprite/bitmap/png/jpg

Then "emit" the effect planes and rotate them in script how you need them

I posted the 3D question on Magic Particles forums. Here is the answer: http://www.astralax.com/forum_en/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=225

I guess it's just a matter of time before I put this feature request back on the drawing board.
