Redistributing DX Studio™ Players

Return to Introduction  Previous page  Next page

You can freely redistribute any files created with a registered version of DX Studio™.  The freeware edition is for non-commercial use only, and files produced with it should not be distributed for profit.

For ActiveX control distribution, you can redistribute a free player either by downloading the installer, or using the following link directly...

http://www.dxstudio.com/downloads/DXWebSetupPlayer.exe

For Windows XP SP2 systems, the player download is 9Mb and should be all you need as DirectX 9 will already be installed.  For distribution on a CD or for systems pre-SP2, you should include the DirectX 9.0c redistrbutable, which can be downloaded from http://www.dxstudio.com/downloads/DirectX9.exe as a single EXE to run before setting up the player, or you can download the DirectX 9 SDK and copy the redist folder from there.

DXStudioPlayerSetup.exe

This setup will install the ActiveX player control and register DX Studio™  document types with the shell.
The component itself will check for DirectX 9.
If you are redistributing an EXE built with DX Studio, you do NOT need to install the player separately first, as it is built in to the EXE.
